tree [directory]
Displays a directory and all its subdirectories in a tree-like view. This makes it easy to see the structure of the file system at a glance.
What it does
- Starts at the given directory (or the current directory if none is given).
- Recursively lists all subdirectories and files.
- Uses branches (├──, └──, │) to show hierarchy.
- Prints a summary at the end with the total number of directories and files.
Usage
tree
tree /programs
tree /system/webserver
Notes
- If no directory is specified, tree starts at the current working directory.
- If the current directory is empty, nothing is printed except the summary.
- Works with any mounted filesystem, including /ramdisk.
